Welcome to Southwest Montana Youth Partners!
At Southwest Montana Youth Partners, we believe in the power of community, connection, and opportunity. Founded in the fall of 2021, our nonprofit organization was created with the vision of providing quality, affordable childcare and youth programs for families in Jefferson County. This region faces unique challenges, including a high poverty rate, driven by its isolated location and limited job opportunities. As a result, many parents struggle to afford the childcare and youth development programs that are crucial for their children's growth and success.
Despite these challenges, we have made remarkable strides in supporting local youth and families. Since we began, we have established several impactful programs that empower the next generation and strengthen our community, including our Youth Leadership Program.
Our Youth Leadership Program offers 7th to 9th graders an opportunity to explore topics they are passionate about, develop critical thinking skills, and create projects that inspire positive change. Over six months, students participate in monthly meetings, working diligently on their projects before presenting them to the community. Through this program, they build self-confidence, enhance their public speaking abilities, and engage in the community.
In addition to leadership opportunities, we also recognize the importance of guidance and support for young individuals. Our Mentor Program connects youth with dedicated adult mentors who provide support, guidance, and opportunities for personal growth. By fostering meaningful relationships, we help young people find their sense of self and prepare for future success.
Another one of our projects is the Boulder Child Care Facility Project, that was created in the fall of 2023. The Child Care Facility Project, also known as Boulder Kids Preschool, was able to open thanks to the incredible support of Jefferson County and the City of Boulder. The facility is led by Janai Turner and Ariel Torgrimson, two compassionate and dedicated individuals. In addition to the nurturing environment of the facility, the facility offers a Montessori style teaching philosophy. This approach fosters independence and essential life skills in young children. Montessori teaching allows for the children to make their own decisions and develop a sense of self. Southwest Montana Youth Partners plays a vital role in allowing this facility to be affordable, by covering parents’ registration fees. This ensures that more families can benefit from quality early childhood education.
Lastly, in addition to these incredible youth programs, we have started a project that’s geared towards strengthening the town of Boulder, Montana. Recently, we were honored to be accepted into the Community Heart & Soul program. This initiative empowers small, rural towns by engaging residents in shaping the future of their community. Through this process, we will work closely with Boulder’s residents to identify what they love about their town and how we can work together to create a thriving, sustainable future.
At Southwest Montana Youth Partners, our mission is clear: to provide accessible childcare and youth programs while strengthening the bonds within our community. Through collaboration, dedication, and a deep appreciation for the people in our community, we are committed to fostering a supportive environment where children and families can flourish.
We hope you can help us achieve our mission, whether it be through donating, mentoring, attending fundraising events, or simply spreading the word. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of Jefferson County’s youth and families.
Thank you for supporting Southwest Montana Youth Partners!
